Giving

Every gift, large or small, is extremely significant. Here are 3 simple principles:

Open-handed living. Everything we possess is owned by God. All of our resources are temporary and on loan to accomplish God’s works.  So when we give part of it back to God it is out of gratitude.

Not equal gifts but equal sacrifice. Remember the woman who gave her only two pennies? Jesus said, “This poor widow has put in more than ALL the others. They gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she put in all she had to live on.”

This is spiritual, not financial. What you pledge is between God and you. We’re simply challenging you to pray the dangerous prayer, asking God what he wants you to do for this journey of faith. By taking a risk and trusting God with our finances, we grow in ways we never dreamed of.

Electronic Funds Transfer

You can set up automatic bank transfers each week, month or year. Please talk with the church office for one of our EFT forms.

Gifts of Stocks

The Missouri United Methodist Foundation can help you donate appreciated stocks, bonds or mutual funds without paying capital gains taxes.  You receive a tax deduction for the full value of the stock, and the church receives the full value without any fees deducted.

Gifts of Property

You can donate gifts of real estate or personal property (house, land, car, boat, etc.).  All properties are subject to appraisals for their fair market value.

Gifts of Life Insurance, Wills, Bequests or Annuities

You can make gifts of life insurance, estate bequests, annuities or charitable trusts.  A charitable gift annuity is a combination of a gift to charity and an annuity.  A donor may transfer property to the charity and the charity promises to pay a given amount at the end of each selected payment period to one annuitant for life or to two annuitants for both lives.  Since part of the annuity payment is a tax-free return of principal, the gift annuity can provide the donor with a very substantial income.

Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.

John Wesley

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.

C. S. Lewis
